BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, “Today, one has to go to another country with the permission of one country.”
He said these things after a rally in front of the BNP central office in Nayapaltan on Friday (July 5).
BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, Sramik Dal leader Suman Bhuiyan and other activists demanded the release of the protest march.
Organized by Sramik Dal Dhaka Metropolitan, the protest march started from Nayapaltan under the leadership of Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, passed through Kakrail-Fakirapool intersection and ended at Nayapaltan.
He said, ‘Where is the freedom flag that the freedom fighters of this country earned with their own blood today? Where is the freedom that I gained in exchange for the honor of 30 lakh martyrs and mothers and sisters today? Today the Prime Minister has to go to China with the permission of a country. This is the shame of this nation today. Begum Khaleda Zia did not do this.’
Rizvi also said, ‘The backs of the workers are against the wall. Today, the price of green chillies is Rs 320, the price of vegetables has crossed the century mark. Double century of tomato has been crossed. The workers are not able to buy these daily necessities.’
He said, ‘this lawlessness, by kicking people’s stomach, the government has given government officials the opportunity to loot crores of rupees. It gave Benazir-Aziz the opportunity to loot not only one/two crore taka, but thousands of crore taka.’
Rizvi also said, ‘Awami League government’s strategy has failed in every case. If Suman Bhuiyan is jailed, the Greens will take to the streets. Activists cannot be suppressed by assault-case, arrest-torture. Immediately release Begum Khaleda Zia, give her treatment abroad. Release all the royal prisoners including Suman.’
BNP Chairperson’s Advisor Abdus Salam, Fishermen’s Party Member Secretary Abdur Rahim, Jubo Dal’s Mehbub Masum Shanto, Chhatra Dal’s Dr. Tauhidur Rahman Awal and others participated in the procession.
