He said that when the National Assembly elections will be held depends on the pace of reforms. After the fall of the dictatorial government, important reforms of the state including the electoral system of Bangladesh have to be done. Then the election will be given.

He said these things in an interview given to AFP on the sidelines of the COP 29 conference in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

Dr. Yunus said, after assuming responsibility in the government, we promised to prepare the country for the polls. Elections will be given as soon as the preparations are over.

Stating that the government wants to hold elections soon after the reform, the chief adviser said that everyone in the country should be united in the reform work. How will the government, parliament, election rules, these must be completed very quickly.

Commenting that the shorter the term of the interim government, the better. Yunus said, we are in the interim government. So our tenure should be as short as possible. We want to hold elections soon.
