The loan is applied for by showing more than the actual value of the flat. After the loan is sanctioned, the flat is registered with a lower value. In this way, loans have been embezzled for buying flats. This incident took place at Dhaka Bank’s Gogan and Kakrail branches in the capital city of Dhaka. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) found seven officials of the bank involved with this.
ACC has filed two cases in the name of 13 people including these seven officials of Dhaka Bank. ACC Deputy Director Shaun Mia filed two cases at the ACC’s Integrated District Office (Dhaka-1) on Thursday (July 11).
Jamil Sharif aka Md. Al Amin, Md. Mujibur Rahman aka Md. A case was filed against Zainul Abedin, Samchul Alam alias Rezaunnabi Sarkar and former senior officer of Dhaka Bank Gogan branch, now senior officer of Banshal branch, Abdullah Al Mamun, AVP of Shahjahanpur branch, Mohammad Roknuzzaman, former sales executive of Dhaka Bank, currently manager of Sunseed Pest Side. In the complaint, it was alleged that they embezzled 85 lakh rupees from Gogan SME branch through fraud and forged documents.
Md. Liton Chowdhury alias Md. Ibrahim Khalil, Jamil Sharif aka Md. Al Amin, Khairun Nahar Islam and former manager of Dhaka Bank Kakrail branch currently Senior Vice President of Prime Bank Mehdi Zaman Khan, former Principal Officer of the same branch currently Senior Principal Officer of Dhanmondi Model Branch Ayesha Sadaf Hussain, former Principal Officer of the same branch currently Principal of Madhavadi Bazar branch, Narsingdi Officer Obaidul Haque Rony and Operations Assistant. Another case was filed in the name of Shakeel Hossain.
It was alleged in the statement that they embezzled Tk 85 lakh loan from Dhaka Bank Kakrail branch through fraud and forged documents.
According to ACC, the amount of loan from the bank is much higher than the registration value. In this case, the customer and the bank officials have shown the price of flat purchase at the time of registration to be evading the revenue. Both buyer and seller are fake. Fake owner sold as original owner.
Liton Chowdhury applied for a loan showing the price of a flat at Dhaka Bank’s Kakrail branch at Tk 1 crore 85 lakh. He was given a loan of 85 lakh rupees. He registered the flat for 44 lakh 5 thousand taka.
In the general diary kept by the bank authorities at Paltan Model Police Station on December 14, 2020, it is said that Liton Chowdhury’s national identity card was found on the website of the Election Commission while opening the account in the bank but was not found later. Even the flat could not be mutated due to fake documents of the flat.
Samchul Alam applied for a loan by showing the flat price of Tk 1 crore 53 lakh in Dhaka Bank’s Gogan SME branch. He was given a loan of 85 lakh rupees. He has registered the flat for 50 lakh 87 thousand taka.
On July 21, 2020, the bank authorities filed a CR case with the Khilgaon police station and a criminal case on December 7. It said that no company could be found at the mortgage address given by the customer. The mutation of the flat could also not be done due to fake documents of the flat.
