As every year 1st July is ‘Bank Holiday’, all transactions of Scheduled Banks will be closed today. There will be no transactions in the two capital markets of the country, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), due to the closure of bank transactions. Capital market will be closed for this reason.
On June 30, the banks completed their six-month financial accounts. Prepares half-yearly balance sheets by consolidating accounts sent from various branches across the country. 1st July is a bank holiday after 30th June due to preparation of accounts.
Traditionally, there are two ‘bank holidays’ in a year. Another day is December 31, the last day of the year. The financial accounts of the whole year are finalized on this day. Bangladesh Bank declares these two days as ‘Bank Holidays’ in the list of holidays fixed by Bangladesh Bank every year.
As usual, the bank sector will be open from 10 am to 6 pm on Tuesday. Bangladesh Bank will run on the same schedule as commercial banks.
Transactions (withdrawal and deposit) in commercial banks will continue till 4 pm. The remaining two hours will be open for official purposes.
