Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that since the inauguration of the Padma Bridge, Tk 1,631,86,53,450 tolls have been collected so far.
He said this in response to a star-marked question by government party member Farida Yasmin tabled in Parliament today.
In response to the pointed question of another member of the government party, Alauddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Obaidul Quader said that in the last one year, i.e. in the current fiscal year 2023-24, a total of Tk 1,472,500,000 has been collected from the three bridges of the country.
He said that the toll is collected from three bridges under the Bangladesh Bridge Authority, an organization under the bridge department. The three bridges are Bangabandhu Bridge over Yamuna River, Muktarpur Bridge over Dhaleswari River and Padma Bridge.
Obaidul Quader said that the amount of toll collected from these bridges from July 1, 2023 to June 19, 2024 in the current 2023-2024 fiscal year is Tk 811.57 million from Padma Bridge, Tk 648.87 million from Bangabandhu Bridge and Tk.648 million from Muktarpur Bridge in Munshiganj. 11 Crore 61 Lakh Tk.
