Member of the Central Working Council of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan South. Shafiqul Islam Masud said, “For the reform of the state, it is necessary to reform oneself as a citizen first.”

He said this at a meeting of Jamaat-e-Islami unit officials in the capital’s Hazaribagh East police station on Friday morning.

Dr. Masud said, ‘Golden people must be created first for a golden Bengal. Stating that Jamaat-e-Islami is working to create golden people, he said, “Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is the best organization for creating moral, ideal and characterful citizens.”

He said, ‘Jamaate-e-Islami never agitates to seize state power, Jamaate-e-Islami agitates to establish a welfare state based on the ideals of Islam. There is a group who preach that if Jamaat-e-Islami comes to power, the country will be destroyed by extremism.’

Challenging their propaganda, he said, ‘If Jamaat-e-Islami comes to power, Bangladesh will be free from extremists.’

Noting that Jamaat-e-Islami does not have its own mantra, he said, “Jaamaat-e-Islami is working to implement the laws of Quran and Sunnah.”

Mentioning that it will not be possible to form a non-discrimination state without Islam, he said, ‘In the age of ignorance or darkness, when people are looking for light, people have rushed to the path of the Qur’an towards the laws of Allah. That is why the path of light has been found. Therefore, Bangladesh will be an ideal state without discrimination if we return to the path of the Qur’an.

Mentioning the help and victory of the student-people revolution, he said, ‘Allah himself said in the Qur’an that when you get my help and victory, people will rush towards you in groups. Today, people are running towards Jamaat-e-Islami and many people are suffering from depression.

Calling them to believe the word of God. Masud said, Jamiat-e-Islami thinks that now is not the time to hold a mass meeting, now it should stand by the families of the martyrs and injured in the student movement and keep an overall inquiry including the treatment of the injured brothers and sisters. And Jamaat-e-Islami is doing that. He urged the officials present to stand by the people.
