A three-day program has been announced to demand the release and better treatment of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. The party’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced this program after a joint meeting at Nayapaltan BNP office in the capital on Wednesday afternoon.
The program includes – rally in front of Nayapaltan office at 3 pm on June 29 (Saturday), rally on July 1 in metropolitan cities across the country, rally on July 3 in district cities across the country.
Earlier on Tuesday, the party’s general secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir held a press conference at the political office of the BNP Chairperson in Gulshan in the capital. There, party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital, announced a program to demand Zia’s release.
BNP Secretary General said yesterday thatthe contribution, struggle and sacrifice of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in restoring democracy is unparalleled in the recent democratic world. The illegitimate government is doing this nefarious plot to keep Khaleda Zia away from politics by systematically punishing her in a false case. He is being held only because of political vendetta, which is completely illegal and unconstitutional. It is his constitutional right to get bail in this case. Mirza Fakhrul said that Khaleda Zia has been suffering from various complex diseases for a long time and said, ‘Doctors have recommended sending her abroad for better treatment. The party demanded that he be released and sent abroad. Even the family has asked permission for his treatment abroad twice. But the illegitimate government denied him advanced medical treatment to kill him to perpetuate their power. I demand Khaleda Zia’s unconditional release immediately.’
