The mood of Eid holiday has started since last Friday. Millions of people have already left the city. Educational institutions, factories, commercial establishments have been closed. This has reduced the demand for electricity and gas. So there is no danger of load shedding during Eid holidays. Gas supply can be normal for cooking purposes at home as well.
Electricity demand decreases during any holiday. There is no shortfall in power generation and supply. However, due to the high humidity in the air for a few days, people are short of breath in the summer. In this situation, officials of the Power Department and Power Development Board (PDB) say that during the Eid holidays, the demand for electricity usually falls below 10,000 megawatts. Due to the hot weather, the average demand may be 10,500 to 11,000 megawatts. Supply of power plants and fuel to meet this demand has been ensured. So the people of the city as well as the village will be at ease. However, when it rains during the monsoon, the temperature decreases, and the demand for electricity decreases. Due to variation in power supply and production, there may be temporary power outages at some places.
