The water of Gomti river in Comilla is flowing below the flood line. At present the water of the river is flowing three centimeters below the danger line.
Comilla Water Development Board Executive Engineer Khan Md. Waliuzzaman confirmed the matter on Tuesday (August 27) night.
He said that the water of Gomti river is decreasing. Flowing three centimeters below the threshold. The situation is improving.
It is to be noted that on the night of August 22, Gomti’s water flowed above the highest level in Bipatseema’s memory. That night the water flowed 134 cm above the danger line. Houses on the banks of the river sink.
Meanwhile, continuous heavy rains and torrential rains from India’s Tripura are still continuing. B-Baria, Sylhet, Moulvi Bazar districts have improved but the flood situation in Comilla, Feni, Noakhali, Laxmipur and Cox’s Bazar has not changed. New areas are still being flooded with water. Relief is not reaching many areas.
River water is flowing over the boundary. Waterborne diseases are on the rise. In areas where the flood situation is improving, flood scars are emerging day by day.
Meanwhile, various areas of Jessore have been flooded due to heavy rains and rising water of Padma. Due to the power cut in many areas, the suffering of people is increasing.
