The High Court has fixed Thursday for the hearing on the writ petition seeking cancellation of the party’s registration by banning Awami League for its involvement in the indiscriminate killing of students during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Md. Mahbubul ul Islam’s bench fixed the date for the hearing and gave this order on Tuesday. The petitioner lawyer Arifur Rahman Murad Bhuiyan himself heard the petition on behalf of the court.
Later, Arifur Rahman Murad Bhuiyan told the reporters that a ruling and order has been sought on the issues of the writ. In this writ, the names of the institutions which are in the name of Sheikh Hasina, have been requested. Apart from this, the writ seeks a minimum term of three years for the current interim government to reform the country. Along with this, it has been demanded to bring back 11 lakh crores smuggled abroad and to transfer the officials who were appointed on contractual basis during the previous Awami League government.
Cabinet Secretary, President’s Office Public Department Secretary, Anti-Corruption Commission Chairman, Legislative Secretary, Election Commission Secretary, Bank and Financial Institutions Department Secretary, National Board of Revenue Chairman, Bangladesh Bank Governor, BFIU chief and coordinator and co-coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement have been made defendants in the writ.
The writ was filed yesterday Monday in the High Court seeking to ban and cancel the registration of Bangladesh Awami League due to the indiscriminate killing of students. Executive Director Arifur Rahman Murad Bhuiyan filed the writ on behalf of human rights organization Sarda Society.
