BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the government has destroyed the country. He said, ‘Where is the honor of the police as a force, when its former chief was sanctioned, the former IGP had to flee the country. That is, this government has destroyed the country.
He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the discussion meeting on the occasion of the 43rd martyrdom anniversary of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman organized by the Nationalist Women’s Party at the National Press Club on Monday afternoon.
Mirza Fakhrul said, ‘For a few days you will see Benazir’s unprecedented corruption. At the same time former army chief General Aziz has also been sanctioned. An MP has been cut to pieces in a neighboring country. This is the face of the government.’ He also commented that we are going through a difficult time, this situation has been created by the current government.
BNP Secretary General said to the government, ‘We say again and again, if you have courage, do not come and hold an impartial election. Free and fair elections will be held, whose popularity will be understood. During the rule of this government, there have been farce in all three elections under the party government. They destroyed the electoral system. A monster government has destroyed everything in the last 15 years.’
Mirza Fakhrul said, ‘We are trying to organize ourselves. I am in jail. We are going to jail again and again. But we have not yet achieved final victory. To achieve this ultimate victory we must strengthen our organization. If there are minor misunderstandings between themselves, they should be removed. Everyone should join together. Because, it is not the problem of BNP, it is the problem of Bangladesh, the problem of the nation. Will this nation survive in future or not your sons will get jobs in future or not. Can they move freely or not; It all depends on whether we can defeat this government peacefully.’
Remembering the founder of BNP, Ziaur Rahman, he further said that Zia was a born man. It was at Zia’s call that the divided nation jumped into war. The government wants to remove it. We never deny the contribution of Sheikh Mujib. People of this country have not forgotten Zia even after 43 years. Those who deny the contribution of martyred President Ziaur Rahman are denying the independence of the country. Because, he is the herald of independence.
Chaired by Jatiyatabadi Mahila Dal President Afroza Abbas and general secretary Sultana Ahmed, BNP chairperson’s advisor Professor Sahida Rafiq, Mahila Dal senior joint general secretary Helen Zerin Khan and others also spoke in the discussion meeting.
