Islami Chhatra Shibir’s Dhaka University (DU) branch secretary general SM Farhad has explained about holding a post in a committee of Chhatra League. He said that he has no involvement with any programs and activities of Chhatra League.

Farhad said these words in a statement sent to the media on Monday (September 23) afternoon.

Last Saturday, the identity of Sadiq Qaim, president of the DU camp, came to the fore. He reveals it himself. The identity of Secretary General Farhad was found the next day.

After his identity came to light, there was a discussion about it. Because, there are arguments for and against that he was also a post holder of Chhatra League. He also led the anti-discrimination student movement.

There are various discussions on the social media Facebook about the Secretary General of DU Shibir being in the post of Chhatra League. Farhad clarified his position by making a statement in such a situation.

He said, ‘I have no involvement with any programs and activities of Social Welfare and Research Institute branch of Chhatra League. I have never given anyone a CV for any position in BCL. Who will be placed in the department-institute committee is the decision of the concerned student body. Why am I being involved there, where I am not associated with the Chhatra League in any way at the institute.’

Farhad also said that they consider the matter to be a conspiracy to destroy the spirit of the anti-fascist movement.

Farhad was the President of Dhaka University’s Poet Jasimuddin Hall Debating Club and General Secretary of Social Welfare and Research Institute Debating Club.

Farhad also said in the statement, “I am the President of the Debating Club and while serving as the General Secretary of the Social Welfare and Research Institute Debating Club, there are pictures on social media of political figures attending various debate events, all of which were debating club-related events, not political events.
