Gholam Mustafa, a meteorologist of the Meteorological Department, told reporters that the magnitude 5.5 earthquake occurred in Myanmar, 439 kilometers from Dhaka. Its tremors were felt in different parts of the country including Dhaka.
There were no immediate reports of damage.
