The Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal has announced that it will stand by the general students who are agitating for quota reform in government jobs. At the same time, the organization announced a protest march program in all universities, districts and cities of the country on Wednesday in protest against the attacks of the Chhatra League on students in various universities including Dhaka and the Prime Minister’s abuse of ordinary students.
Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nashir Uddin Nashir announced this program in a press conference held at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan on Tuesday.
Nashir Uddin Nashir, highlighting some incidents of BCL attacks on ordinary students, said, ‘We are giving special importance to the way in which a BCL terrorist attacked a student sister of Eden College. Even in war, there are certain rules that hospitals and educational institutions cannot be attacked. But the Chhatra League guards went to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital and attacked the injured ordinary students. This is a scandalous incident for student politics after independence. It is not only a breach of international law; It is also a criminal offense under domestic law.’
He further said, ‘Chhatra League has been campaigning for the past few days that they will explain their position. But we saw them going door to door and attacking ordinary students, turning them into torture cells. We call this as the era of Awami ignorance.
He also said, ‘Chhatra Dal has supported this movement of ordinary students from the beginning, it will continue to support this movement. Ordinary students will be successful in this movement.
Senior Vice President of Chhatra Dal Abu Afsan Mohammad Yahya, Senior Joint General Secretary Shyamal Malum, Organizing Secretary Amanullah Aman, Office Secretary Jahangir Alam and others were also present at this time.
During the press conference, a large number of Chhatra Dal leaders and activists gathered in Nayapaltan to protest the attack of Chhatra League on ordinary students in various universities including Dhaka University.
Later, Chhatra Dal held a protest march at Naya Paltan. The procession led by the organization’s president Rakibul Islam Rakib and general secretary Nashir Uddin Nashir ended with a brief road meeting in front of the office.
At this time, Rakibul Islam Rakib said to the leaders and activists, ‘I am giving you instructions to stand by ordinary students from today. Just as Chhatra Dal is in the movement to restore democracy, we will stand by them until this movement of ordinary students succeeds.
