Advocate Ehsanul Haque Samazi is not joining the post of Public Prosecutor (PP) of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court. He is leaving the post in the interest of maintaining professional dignity and for personal or family reasons.
This reason was stated in a letter sent to the Solicitor Division of the Department of Law and Justice on Thursday (August 29).
Ehsanul Haque Samazi was appointed in a notification signed by Mahruf Hossain, Deputy Solicitor of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs last Tuesday. After this news was published yesterday on Wednesday, pro-BNP lawyers staged a protest in front of the Dhaka Lawyers Association under the banner of general lawyers demanding cancellation of the appointment. There, Ehsanul Haque immediately called upon the interim government to cancel the appointment of Samaj. If not, he threatened that he will not be allowed to perform this duty. They called Samji the ghost of the Awami League government and pointed out that he is being appointed to give benefits to the leaders and workers of the Awami League.
BNP party president Borhan Uddin and former general secretary Omar Farooq Farooqui were seen leading the rally. The agitators said that if they do not resign by 9 am today, the next program will be announced.
Ehsanul Haque Samazi served as Dhaka Metropolitan Public Prosecutor for 2 years during the previous 111 caretaker government
