Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that the university teachers and quota movement situation is being closely monitored.
He said, “I am closely monitoring the situation of university teachers and quota movement.” It will be resolved in time. I hope so and I believe so.’
He said this in response to the questions of journalists at the ceremony of awarding the purity award to the officers and employees of the ministry in the conference room of the Road Transport and Highways Department at the Secretariat on Sunday (July 7).
General Secretary of Awami League said that the issue on which the students are protesting is not the government’s decision. The court ruled. Now while the matter of Aalat is ongoing, it is in the Appellate Division. This should not be discussed. But it is a matter of the country, so we are monitoring the situation of the educational institutions.
When asked if he will sit with the teachers soon, he said, “It is not a matter of sitting and sitting, we have contact with them.” I can’t say when the sitting will be. But it will be resolved in time.
Obaidul Quader said that all projects should be implemented keeping in mind the economic resources of the country. Care must be taken not to repeat the Sri Lankan example or to repeat the mistakes in any case.
The Minister of Road Transport and Bridges said that there should be punishment for bad deeds like reward for good deeds. Earlier there was a lot of talk about corruption, commission percentage, promotion transfer. This practice has been stopped, especially in BRTA and road department.
In response to the allegations of BNP leaders, whether the government is committing mega corruption in mega projects, Obaidul Quader said that in reality, the government is not mega corruption in mega projects, but mega saving. Three bridges Meghna, Gomti and Kachpur bridges have saved 1100 crore rupees. And 1 thousand 835 crore rupees have been saved in Padma Bridge.
In response to another question, the general secretary of Awami League said that after every three months, the finance ministry through the prime minister is returning this loan to the government. We have taken a loan from the Ministry of Finance, we are giving it back to the Ministry of Finance. The way the toll is being collected on the Padma Bridge, I think it will not take 25 years, we will be able to pay off the debt in 18 to 20 years.
