Sri Lanka, recovering from severe economic crisis, is giving special importance to the tourism sector. They are presenting their tourism to the world in many ways.
In 2024, the country has set a target of 23 lakh tourists from India, Russia, China, UK and Germany among other countries.
Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) Chairman Priyanth Fernando said this.

According to a report by EconomyNext, Sri Lanka expects to receive a target of 310,000 to 343,000 tourists from India. After that, Sri Lanka has fixed the target of at least 258,000 tourists from Russia, 251,000 from China, 1,93,000 from the United Kingdom and 1,51,000 from Germany.
Sri Lankan tourism authorities are promoting the country’s tourism internationally with the use of social media celebrities.
Besides, the country has also planned several domestic events in tourist hotspots.
“We will be organizing several festivals in areas like Weligama and Unawatuna,” Fernando told EconomyNext.
He said that the number of tourists may be slightly less than the target of 15 lakh 50 thousand in 2023.
12 lakh 43 thousand 52 tourists visited Sri Lanka till November 2023. However, the country received only 7 lakh 19 thousand 978 tourists in 2022.
