Shells fired from the border of Myanmar are arriving at Teknaf land port. Therefore, all activities of the land port have been closed.
Teknaf upazila executive officer Adnan Chowdhury confirmed the matter.
Jasim Uddin, manager of Teknaf land port, said that on Wednesday, September 18, at around 1:30 p.m., 3 bullets were fired at Teknaf land port from the Myanmar border area. A bullet hit the land port office and shattered the glass of the office. A second bullet hit a cargo truck at the port. The other comes to the coconut tree.
He said panic spread among all those working at the land port. In fear, everyone moved from the land port to a safe haven. All land port activities have been stopped for now.
Locals said that due to massive clashes between the two sides on Totardia Island across Myanmar, bullets have been pouring into the border area including Teknaf land port for the past few days.
