Kotwali police station raided a house in Halishahar of Chittagong city on the suspicion that Awami League general secretary and former bridge minister Obaidul Quader is staying. A raid was conducted at AR Tower on Agrabad Access Road in Halishahar police station area on Saturday night.
Not finding Kader, the police took his wife’s elder brother Nurul Huda Babu to the police station and interrogated him. But he was released on Sunday morning.
Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Fazlul Quader said, based on secret information, a raid was conducted at the flat of Obaidul Quader’s wife’s elder brother Nurul Huda. Later, Nurul Huda was brought to the police station for questioning. Obaidul Quader has been questioned on various issues. Later he was released as there was no case.
Chittagong Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (PR) Kazi Md. Tarek Aziz said that the operation was conducted based on the information that Obaidul Kader was staying there. But he was not found. One of his relatives was brought to the police station for questioning. He was released to the custody of the family as he was not found to be related.
It should be noted that Obaidul Quader has been running away since Sheikh Hasina resigned in the mass uprising of students on August 5. He was not arrested even though the law and order forces conducted raids in different parts of the country to arrest him.
