The Myanmar military is conducting joint operations against the Arakan Army in Rakhine State in the wake of ongoing internal clashes in Myanmar. Due to this clash between the Myanmar military and the Arakan Army, there are incidents of unwanted firing on Bangladeshi boats in the Naf River and the estuary area adjacent to the river.
As the ongoing clash is near St. Martin’s Island, some people are spreading rumors about the security of St. Martin through social media centering the conflict. The ISPR has requested not to be confused by such rumors

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh expressed deep concern over the matter and protested on June 12.
In continuation of this, the Myanmar Navy is firing on the Arakan Army’s position on the Myanmar side of the Myanmar maritime border near St. Martin’s Island and the Myanmar border of the Naf River. At the same time, the Arakan Army is also shelling Myanmar Navy ships and boats.
At present, several warships of Myanmar Navy are conducting these operations along the Myanmar border. The Myanmar Navy is also informing the Bangladesh Navy about the location of Myanmar in the maritime boundary near St. Martin’s.
Internal conflicts in Myanmar continue in mainland Myanmar and adjacent coastal areas. Several ships of Bangladesh Navy and Coast Guard are regularly patrolling the maritime boundary of Bangladesh, including monitoring the movement of Myanmar ships near St. Martin’s Island.
