Oxford University in the UK has scholarships for students from developing countries. International students can study with this scholarship for Masters and Ph.D. The name of this scholarship of Oxford University is ‘ Rhodes Scholarship’ . Students from other countries including Bangladesh can apply. Interested students can apply between June 3 and August 1 this year.
Rhodes Scholarship is one of the oldest scholarships in the world. The Rhodes Scholarship is an international scholarship scheme to study at the University of Oxford in the UK. The scholarship was introduced in 1902. English businessman and politician Cecil Rhodes launched this scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship was to inculcate future civic leadership qualities and moral courage in students entering the workforce. Initially, the Rhodes Scholarship was reserved for male applicants from Commonwealth countries (including Germany and the United States). Later it was opened to all. The scholarship scheme was initially controversial due to its lack of opportunities for women, founder Rhodes’ Anglo-white supremacy and its association with British colonialism.
Former President of Pakistan Wasim Sajjad, former Prime Minister of Australia Tony Abbott, Bob Hawke and Malcolm Turnbull, former President of the United States Bill Clinton and multiple Nobel Prize winners are among the Rhodes scholarship students. A number of individuals have also declined Rhodes Scholarships for being controversial.

Qualifications—
- Applicant must be between 18 and 23 years of age;
- Graduation for Masters and Post Graduation for Ph.D.;
- Must be proficient in English language;
- IELTS Proficiency Certificate in English is required.
