Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, those who are being caught now are saying that I did not do it by myself, I did it on the order of so and so. And when he was in power, it was always said – the tree is swaying this way, the leaves of the tree are moving that way, the honorable Prime Minister (Sheikh Hasina) is watching. Everything needs his permission, his guidance. Addressing Sheikh Hasina, he said, then your people made you mastermind and godmother, we did not.
He said this in the speech of the chief guest at the meeting with the family members of the martyrs in the anti-discrimination student movement organized by the Kushtia District Jamaat yesterday at 9 am. The interim government needs reasonable time to reform all the country’s democratic institutions and election commission. The people of the country are ready to give this time.
He also said that there is no such thing as justice and fairness in the society for a long time. People of the country are deprived of their due rights. The rights of all irrespective of caste, religion and caste must be ensured. Jamaat will make every effort to establish justice in the society.
Recalling the sacrifice of the students, he said that hundreds of people lost their lives in the mass revolution of the students. Many people were injured. Many have suffered blindness. These brave fighters are our deposit. So we have to collectively stand by them in any problem. He paid tribute to the martyrs of the recent agitation and condoled with the injured and congratulated the victors.
He also said, this country belongs to all of us. We will build a beautiful country on the basis of equal civil rights for people of all religions and races.
Special Guest Central Executive Member and Jessore-Kushtia Region Director Mubarak Hossain said that Jamaat-e-Islami is meeting with all the families of the martyrs and the injured and is trying to share their happiness and sorrow. Jamaat has also announced to take necessary responsibilities including their medical assistance.
