President of Public Rights Council Nurul Haque Noor said, ‘The proposed budget of the government is not for common people. This budget is for looters like Aziz, Benazir. Article 20 of the Constitution states that no person can enjoy unearned income. So in one word this budget is to encourage bribery and corruption. It is an anti-constitutional budget.
He said these things in the mass protest program organized by the Dhaka Metropolitan Youth Rights Council to demand the arrest of Aziz-Benjir and the corrupt-robber-mafia and their patrons in front of the National Press Club on Friday. After the rally, a protest procession went through Paltan Mor, Dainik Bangla Mor, Fakirapool, BNP party office, Nightingale Mor and ended at Vijaynagar water tank junction.
Nurul Haque Noor said, ‘Corruption has now spread in the country. Due to lack of elections, voting and democracy in the country, unaccountable government has been established. And with the lack of government accountability, corruption has now become a normal thing. In other words, corruption has now become institutionalized. A bribe has to be paid to get the body out of the hospital morgue. There is no government office where there is no bribery or corruption. The government created the Aziz-Benazirs to stay in power illegally. Now they don’t want to take responsibility. Obaidul Quader said that Aziz-Benazirs are not their people. But they made Aziz-Benazir the army chief and police chief to give them promotion.’
The general secretary of the People’s Rights Council also spoke at the public protest. Rashed Khan, Higher Council member Abu Hanif, Shakeel Uzzaman, Fatima Tasnim, President of Bangladesh Youth Rights Council Manjur Morshed Mamun, General Secretary Nadeem etc.
