New Inspector General of Police (IGP) Moinul Islam said that all policemen have been ordered to join their respective workplaces within the next 24 hours. He said this in a press briefing at the police headquarters on Wednesday (August 7) afternoon.

He said that the officers and forces of Rajarbagh Police Lines, POM, APBNs, all metropolitan and district police lines and all specialized police units have been ordered to join work by tomorrow Thursday evening. Apart from this, the IGP called upon the Metropolitan Police Commissioners and District Superintendents of Police to form a Civil Security Committee comprising senior citizens, professionals, student representatives, political and media persons of their respective areas.

At this time, Moinul Islam said that due to various irregularities, corruption and exclusionary activities, an unprecedented public demand has been established through the recently held anti-discrimination movement of the students. We have now started the journey with the determination to build a new Bangladesh.

The IGP wished the souls of those killed in the movement to rest in peace. However, he said that the police have always performed their duties with utmost sincerity, dedication and professionalism at any critical moment for the needs of the country, but the previous responsible officers in the anti-discrimination movement could not fulfill their duties as per the expectations of the countrymen.

Some ambitious officials claim that this happened. He further said that many of our colleagues have been injured, killed and harassed due to some of our ambitious, unprofessional officers, failure to follow accepted principles of force in formulating operations, human rights abuses and failure of leadership.

From now on, the police are firmly committed to fulfill all their responsibilities by legal means, the chief of the force said, “We are committed to conduct a fair and impartial investigation of every murder involving students, ordinary people and the police in the recent past, centered on the anti-discrimination student movement.” We are trying our best to restore peace, order and stability in the country.
