Former chairman of Jianagar Upazila, Masud Sayedee, said that the people of Bengal want a state with ethics and morality, a state without discrimination.
The people of Bengal want a state where the poor, the suffering, the hardworking people can all live in one row. Where no one will go hungry, there will be jobs in every house. Where people can live after eating. The people of Bengal want such a state. How will that state come? How will it be formed? Between 1971 and 2024, we had to hold an anti-dictatorship movement in 1990, and we had to hold a movement in 1996 as well. In 2001, we had to hold a movement to remove that fascist AL. From 2007 to 2009, we had to hold a movement against the One-Eleven government that was imposed on us.
The Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami made these remarks during a public meeting organized at the local Bandar Bazar ground of Sriramkathi Union No. 8, Nazirpur Upazila branch of Pirojpur on Saturday (December 7).
Masud Sayedee said, in 2014 we had to protest for votes. In 2018 we had to protest for rice. The last time we had to protest for our voting rights, human rights, and rice rights was in 2024, through massive bloodshed. So how long will we shed blood, how long will there be conflict among us, and how long will Bangladeshis engage in divisive politics? We do not want divisive politics. We are Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, and Muslims, citizens of Bangladesh. And we all want to live together as citizens of Bangladesh. We do not want to shed any more blood. But how will we get an anti-discrimination state?
This Jamaat leader said, “In 53 years, you have tested many political parties and political individuals. You have sent many leaders to power in the state, what did you get in return? In return, you got a house in Begumpara, Canada. 99 percent of those you put in power by voting from 1971 to 2024 are corrupt, extortionists, terrorists, bribe-takers, rapists, so do you want to put such people in leadership positions?”
