Women members of Bangladesh Army can now wear hijab along with uniform if they want. Army authorities have taken a ‘policy decision’ for this. Earlier there was a directive not to wear hijab with uniform.
Recently an internal office order of the office of the Adjutant General (AG) informed the concerned. It has made the wearing of hijab optional for female army personnel. That is, women army members can wear hijab from now on.
On September 3, a policy decision was taken at the PSO conference to allow willing women members to wear hijab with their uniforms.
According to the office order, to finalize the policy, female army personnel (officers, AFNS and other ranks) have been asked to provide actual samples of hijab compatible with the uniform (combat uniform, working dress, saree), detailing the type, color and measurement of hijab fabric.
Along with the uniform (combat uniform, working dress, saree) the color photograph of the female army member wearing the proposed hijab has been asked to be sent to the concerned department by September 26
