Dr. Li Si Zhang, a resident of Sang Sai, China. Natore came for the love of a young Bangladeshi girl. He left his religion and married the daughter of the imam of the local mosque. About 6 months ago, Chinese resident Lee Si Jang met Natore’s daughter Fatema through mobile app (WeChat). Then friendship started. Then it becomes about love. In the end, he came to Natore for love and married his girlfriend Fatema Khatun.
On Thursday evening, they were married according to Muslim customs after paying a dowry of Tk 7 lakh. The marriage was registered in the court on Sunday. This incident has created a lot of excitement in the area. Fatema is the fifth daughter of Abu Taher of Barabaria village of Lakshipur Kholabaria Union of Sadar Upazila, Natore and a 3rd year honors student of Islamic History and Sanskrit Department of Nawab Siraj-ud-Ddaula Government College, Natore. Fatima’s father Abu Taher is the imam of the local Kathalbaria mosque.
According to Fatema’s family sources, Chinese young man Li Si Zhang left his religion to get the love of Bangladeshi girl. Earlier on Thursday afternoon, Lee Si Jang came from China to Fatema’s house in Barabaria village of Lakshipur Kholabaria Union of Natore Sadar Upazila. He left Buddhism in front of everyone. Later, he married Fatima according to Muslim customs. He named himself Ali.
Fatema said, Lee Si Jang came to Bangladesh to love me. He left his own religion for me. We want to be together in happiness and sadness. At that time she expressed her desire to move to their country (China) with her husband.
Claiming himself to be a doctor, Lee Si Jang alias Ali said, I am very happy with this marriage. I left my religion for the people I love. I am hopeful that my loved ones will be by my side for the rest of my life.
Fatima Khatun’s father, Abu Taher, said that his daughter expressed interest in marrying a foreign man. So he did not agree even if the proposal of marriage came locally. He wanted to marry according to his own choice, so marriage was taught according to religious rules on Thursday. As the court was closed on Friday and Saturday, the marriage was registered through the court on Sunday. Riazul Haque Momin, president of the court premises and District Qazi Association confirmed the affidavit and marriage registry of Chinese youth Lee Si Jang’s conversion affidavit and marriage registry in the court on Sunday morning.
Awami League leader Nuruzzaman Kalu, Chairman of Lakshipur Kholabaria Union Parishad of Nator Sadar Upazila, said, I came to know that they got married after their relationship through mobile phone. The girl was already learning languages of different countries. Boys or girls from abroad are coming and getting married in Bangladesh, but this is the first time in our area. Locals are coming to see them at Fatima’s house. People in the area have never seen such a wedding, so they are very interested. Locals said that they hope that their married life will be happy.
