The Muslim Community Association (MCA ) condemns the recent derogatory comment made by Sir Kier Starmer in singling out the Bangladeshi community in UK. The language and tone of his comment was humiliating.
This is even more shocking coming from the leader of the Labour Party, a party which is supposed to stand up for fairness and justice for ethnic minorities..
The Bangladeshi community in the UK has made positive contributions for decades. Many of the earlier generations served in the British Army and were invited to work in the UK after the Second World War to help rebuild the country. They have made and are still making substantial contributions to enrich the cultural diversity, economic vitality, and social fabric of British society.
We share the outrage of many British Bangladeshis and civil society organisations, and expect an apology from Sir Kier Starmer without delay.
