Workers waiting at Dhaka airport suffer from the uncertainty of air ticket prices being out of reach and not being able to enter after the specified time. And nearly 20,000 workers are waiting at Kuala Lumpur airport. Their problem is that their owner is not coming to receive them even after 24 hours.
Around 20,000 Bangladeshi workers have reached the two international terminals in Kuala Lumpur and are staying on the floor till Friday afternoon. Due to waiting for hours, they suffered many things including food and water. Employers are also struggling to identify their employees. Many are unable to leave Kuala Lumpur airport to join the workplace as they are not accepted by their employers after waiting for a long time.
Malaysia’s immigration department said in a statement on Thursday (May 30) that daily arrivals of foreign workers under normal circumstances range between 500 and 1,000. The number of arrivals started increasing from May 22. In this situation, immediate steps have been taken to ensure the comfort of passengers and control the traffic jam. Additional counters have been opened and the number of immigration officers has also been increased to deal with the situation.
The Malaysian High Commissioner in Dhaka said in a statement that the entry period will not be extended after May 31.

Joint Secretary General of Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) Md. Fakhrul Islam told reporters that crores of rupees have been taken away from the medical treatment of about 10 lakh workers. About 20,000 to 30,000 workers will face uncertainty in going to Malaysia if the time of entering the country is not increased.
