Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir asked for prayers from the countrymen stating that Khaleda Zia’s condition is ‘critical’ in Evercare hospital.
On Saturday (June 22) at 1.30 pm, BNP Secretary General went to Evercare Hospital and informed the media after talking to the members of the medical board formed for the treatment of Begum Khaleda Zia.
The BNP Chairperson is undergoing treatment in the Critical Care Unit (CCU). Entry restrictions have been imposed for all except the medical board doctors and nurses.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul told the media, ‘I went to Evercare Hospital to see madam today. Now he is in CCU. His condition is very critical and the doctors are not allowing anyone inside now.’
He said, ‘I spoke to the doctors involved in her treatment and understood that the condition of the madam is very critical. The doctors will probably have another board meeting this evening and in this board meeting they will decide what to do next.’
He also said, ‘I want to appeal to the people, they should pray for the health of the madam, I pray to Allah.’
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s personal physician Professor AZM Zahid Hossain said, ‘BNP Secretary General came, spoke to the medical board doctors. Madam is under close observation of doctors in CCU. Treatment is ongoing. There is nothing new to say.’
When Khaleda Zia fell ill suddenly at Basa Feroza in Gulshan, she was brought to Evercare Hospital by ambulance at 3:30 pm on Friday (June 21). The medical board immediately admitted him to the CCU and started treatment.
Medical board members led by expert doctor Prof. Shahabuddin Talukder, Prof. FM Siddiqui, Prof. Shamsul Arefin, Prof. AQM Mohsin reviewed the latest condition of the former prime minister in several rounds of meetings.
Dr. from London in these meetings of the medical board. Zobayeda Rahman and some expert doctors from the United States and Australia are connected virtually, Professor Zahid said, “The expert doctors are reviewing the physical examination reports of madam and taking immediate measures.”
He came to Evercare Hospital last May 2 for a health check-up. At that time, doctors kept him in CCU and treated him for two days.
79-year-old Khaleda Zia is suffering from diabetes, arthritis, heart disease, lung, liver, kidney and various other complex diseases.
