Yemen’s Houthis say they have launched a joint military operation targeting four ships in Israel’s northern port of Haifa. Islamic Resistance in Iraq participated in their campaign.
In a statement on Sunday morning, the group’s spokesman, Yahya Sarre, said that tankers and cargo ships became targets due to the use of the Israeli port. He claimed that the USS Eisenhower was attacked. Liberian flag and cargo ships were also affected. Besides, two other commercial ships were attacked by drones.
He said the ships belonged to companies that violated the ban on entering ports in occupied Palestine.
The Israeli military had no immediate comment on the operation. However, Israel denied similar claims by the Houthis earlier last month.
The operation was successful – the Houthis also claim. In protest against the Israeli invasion of Gaza, the Houthis began attacking Israeli-bound ships in the Red Sea and surrounding areas since last November.
