Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami former MP Prof. Mia Md. Golam Parwar said, We are shocked by this disaster of Sunamganj residents who were inundated by the sudden terrible flood. All levels of Jamaat have been working to help the flood affected people of Sunamganj since the beginning. The able-bodied people of the society should come forward to help the flood victims. All danger comes from Allah. Therefore, we should seek Allah’s help more in difficult situations.
He said, due to the inadequacy of government relief efforts, the suffering of the flood victims is increasing. Jamaat, an oppressed organization committed to building a society based on justice in Sabuj Bukhand of Bangladesh, has stood by the flood victims since the beginning. Jamaat is always working for the welfare of humanity in spite of unlimited jail-oppression-torture, execution of leaders, assault-cases. To stand by the flood affected people of Sunamganj, we have brought all possible gifts from Dhaka. We are Bangladeshis, we are brothers and sisters. So I couldn’t stay away from you in this calamitous time. I have come to your side to respond to the call of humanity out of conscience. This foodpack is not a charity but part of a brother’s responsibility to his brother. It is very difficult for the people of Haorpar to overcome this huge flood damage. In this regard, along with the government, the capable people should come forward. Jamaat has been with the people in the past in any calamity, it is still there, it will be there in the future too, inshallah.
He said the above while visiting various flood affected places in the district including Mohammpur area flood shelter of Sunamganj municipality, Haluargao village of Sadar upazila’s Laxmanshri union, Paglabazar area of Shantiganj upazila and Kalaruka area of Chatak upazila and distributing food items (foodpack) among the flood victims.
