Like BNP, Jamaat wants the interim government to speed up necessary reforms in administration, judiciary and economy and banking sector. At the same time, Jamaat is also emphasizing on bringing the law and order situation under control. He says that the Election Commission should be reformed and restructured.
Apart from this, the party is also giving importance to legal justice in the case of those killed in the movement.
Amir Shafiqur Rahman of Jamaat said, ‘Those who have committed crimes must be prosecuted. They must be punished if they are guilty. It is a matter of personal judgment. And as a group, the whole group was involved in the murder.’
He said, their minister said, ‘Chatra League is enough to suppress the students’ movement. So what is the matter? One group took full responsibility for terrorizing and that was it. Many lives were lost. When the terrorists are brought down as an army under the banner of the party, there is a precedent in many countries of the world that those who commit genocide… they no longer have the right to do politics in that country.’
However, Amir of Jamaat says that they have not yet demanded the banning of Awami League as a party. Shafiqur Rahman confirmed that no decision has been taken in this regard.
