Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former MP AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad condemned and protested the killing of Shaukat Ali Didar, the sports secretary of BNP’s associate organization Swachchasebak Dal.
He issued a statement condemning and protesting on Saturday (September 14).
In a statement, he said, ‘On Friday, September 13, BNP’s Svechasevak Dal President SM Jilani was attacked on his way to his home in Tungipara. When his convoy reached Ghonapara in Gopalganj city around 4 pm, local Awami League leaders and activists attacked and brutally thrashed the sports secretary of BNP’s Central Volunteer Party, Shaukat Ali Didar. Another person died on the way to Dhaka for better treatment.
AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad said, “Swechsevak Dal president SM Jilani and his wife Gopalganj District Mahila Dal president Roshan Ara Ratma, Mahanagar Swachsevak Dal leader Sabuj and 50 others were injured in this attack. This incident is extremely demonic and cowardly. I condemn and protest this incident.’
He also said, ‘TV’s photojournalist HM Manik was beaten up and his camera vandalized while trying to capture the images of this attack. I also condemn this incident.’
He said, ‘I am seeking forgiveness for the souls of the victims. At the same time, I express my condolences to the families of the deceased and the injured and wish for the speedy recovery of the injured.
He urged the concerned authorities to immediately arrest the troublemakers and killers and take strict legal action against them.
