Jamaat-e-Islami has demanded the release of all detained leaders and activists including the party’s Assistant Secretary General ATM Azharul Islam before Eid-ul-Azhar.
The party’s deputy emir Professor Mujibur Rahman made this claim in a statement.
In the statement, he said, the government has unjustly detained Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General ATM Azharul Islam for almost 13 years. Rajshahi Mahanagar Jamaat Secretary Imaj Uddin Mandal went to appear in the court of Rajshahi on April 22, he and 9 others were arrested from the court premises. At present 153 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir across the country have been detained by the government on false and fabricated cases.
The families and relatives of the detained leaders of Jamaat are spending their days in extreme anxiety, worry and worry. Eid-ul-Azha will be very painful for the families of the Jamaat leaders while they are in jail. The government should release all the prisoners including Jamaat leaders before Eid-ul-Azhar and give them the opportunity to celebrate Eid with their families.
