Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has called upon the government to find a just solution to the agitation of the students and teachers of the public universities to demand the withdrawal of the public pension scheme and the quota system in government jobs.
Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former MP Prof. Mia Golam Parwar called for this in a statement on Friday (July 7).
In the statement, he said, ‘The student society of the country is continuing the agitation to demand the cancellation of the quota system in government jobs and the withdrawal of the public pension scheme. As a result of the movement of students and teachers, students and students of all universities of the country are being disrupted. The demands of students and teachers of public universities are certainly justified.
We note with concern that the government continues to ignore the demands of students and teachers. We think that the agitation needs to be ended by meeting the students and teachers of public universities and accepting their just demands.
I call upon the government to immediately hold talks with the students and public university teachers of the country and accept their just demands and put an end to the student and teacher agitation.’
