Israel killed Haniyeh’s three sons last April. According to Hamas, four of his grandchildren (three daughters and one son) were also killed. At that time, a Hamas leader told Al Jazeera, “I thank God for giving them the honor of martyrdom.”
Earlier this year, Israeli police arrested one of Hania’s sisters, an Israeli citizen living in Tel Sheva. The Hamas leader’s three sisters live in the southern city and are married to Arab Israelis.
Later that year, Hania requested Israel to allow her sisters to attend her son’s wedding in Gaza. But Israel denies it. It was not immediately known if any of Hania’s sisters were killed in today’s attack.
Several others were injured in the attack on the Abdel-Fanah Hammoud school in Al-Daraj area of Gaza City.
