Senior Nayeb Ameer of the Islamic Movement Bangladesh, Mufti Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim, said, “I thought that if we could separate from West Pakistan and become an independent state, we would be liberated and have peace. But what I saw was that those who ruled the country for 53 years from 1971 to 2024 could not eliminate discrimination, could not give peace to the people, could not liberate the people.”

Mufti Faizul Karim made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a public meeting organized by the Islamic Movement Bangladesh Fulbari branch at the Sujapur Government Model High School grounds in Fulbari municipality of Dinajpur at 4:30 pm today, Saturday.

He further said, ‘Once again, we jumped into the anti-discrimination movement on August 5, 2024. The students and the masses united for the liberation of the people, for peace, to eliminate discrimination, and to overthrow the fascist government by sacrificing blood and life in the movement struggle. We jumped into the movement to eliminate discrimination by giving up the illusion of life, to stop corruption, to restore people’s rights. But what did we see, after August 5, that discrimination again, again oppression, torture, again injustice, again corruption, more extortion, again injustice, murder, rape.’

He said, “We did not protest for these things, we did not shed blood for these things, so many people did not die for these things. Lentu collected donations in the past, now Fentu collects donations, Lantu steals in the past, now Keltu steals. Only the hands have changed, the people have changed, the donations have not changed. Thousands of rulers have changed, but the fate of the people has not changed.”

Islami Andolan Bangladesh Fulbari Upazila Branch President Rabiul Islam presided over the event, and Islami Andolan Bangladesh Senior Joint Secretary General Maulana Gazi Ataur Rahman, Rangpur Metropolitan Branch Secretary Md. Amirul Islam Piyal, Dinajpur South District President Dr. Nur Alam Siddique and others spoke as special guests.
