Lebanon-based resistance movement Hizbullah fired from Lebanon into northern Israel. 11 people were injured. This information was reported in a report by Al Jazeera, a Qatar-based media outlet, on Wednesday (June 5).
According to the report, an Israeli army spokesman said that the shells fired from Lebanon hit Harfish without activating the siren. He also said, “We have more information about the explosion in Galilee, northern Israel.”
Israel’s daily newspaper Haaretz reported that at least 11 Israelis were wounded in the city of Harfish by Hizbullah.
Meanwhile, Hamas will respond positively to any ceasefire proposal. Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh made the announcement in a statement on Wednesday (June 5).
Hamas said it would respond positively to any ceasefire proposal based on a cease-fire, a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and an Israeli-Palestinian prisoner swap deal, Al Jazeera reported.
Ismail Haniya, head of Hamas’s political bureau, said in a statement, “We will adopt a position that proves the will and courageous resistance of our people.”
Meanwhile, Hamas also expressed its position on post-war Gaza. According to a report in the Jerusalem Post, there has been an alignment between Hamas and Fahat. This coordination took place in various meetings. In the meetings, Hamas indicated that the Islamist group could maintain influence in power after the Gaza war.
Talks between Hamas and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah party will be held in China in mid-June, officials from both sides said. They have recently held two rounds of meetings. One in China and the other in Russia. However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China refused to comment on this matter.
The next meeting will take place amid efforts by international mediators to reach a ceasefire agreement for Gaza. The key issue there will be how post-war Gaza will be governed.
Meetings between Hamas politicians and officials from the Fatah party, which controls Palestinian politics in the West Bank, signaled the creation of a post-war order in the Palestinian territories.
