Leader of Opposition in Parliament and Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader said that the Harijan community has been providing the largest healthcare since the British era. About 5 to 7 thousand people are living here. Here they are living a subhuman life. They are working as cleaners in the city corporation. Many people will not be able to do it even for lakhs of rupees. They are the most downtrodden and oppressed and helpless.
GM Quader said that the country-state-government should stand by them. I am sorry to note that this government is a party government. This government is working for the interests of party people. They are developing individuals and teams in the name of development. The development of the country is the development of the common people of the country. If these people are pushed to the streets, where will they go? The government has no idea about this. These people are being threatened. What is the development of 5 to 6 thousand people thrown on the street? Some people may profit by shopping or leasing.
He said, the country has now become the country of Awami League. They do not consider common people as human beings. They are running the country as per their convenience. The people no longer own the country, they cannot change the government. The government does not take any decision on the people’s words. It is very sad, this is why we are fighting for democracy. People’s needs must be met, their dues must be explained. We talked about this yesterday (Wednesday) in Parliament. We do not understand whether the government will keep our word or not. Tomorrow (Friday) or it will be dismantled, if you don’t listen, you will be fired. These people are very helpless. They can’t give shop, don’t want to eat anything in their hand… But without their service our life is stagnant. The matter should be looked at from a human point of view. We will try to prevent it in any way. It is the Awami League government. The government of Awami League is not the government of the people. This government is formed by Awami League, working to look after the interests of Awami League. They don’t care about people’s demands. It is unfair to divide among ourselves by building in the name of development.
GM Quader said, today there is no lack of people to stand by the Harijans, to do business with them or to do well with them. It is unfortunate for the country and the government. It will be most unfair and shameful to evict these poor people and divide them into buildings. Evicting the Harijans will be the biggest robbery. It must be stopped at any cost.
The opposition leader also said that the government is now very strong. They are accompanied by the administration and law enforcement. Common people are helpless in front of their muscle power, financial power and Mastans. Common people are outnumbered but are being defeated by demonic forces. It must be resisted. Our efforts will continue. It is the responsibility of the government to make room for Harijans. I heard that two buildings have been built for them. But there are 5 to 700 families here. They need to be rehabilitated. Human rights must be given, otherwise people will force it. This injustice cannot go on forever. Speaking in parliament is the most important thing. We have not developed the political power to force this government. We will stand by the common people by providing legal assistance if necessary.
