Chief Adviser to Interim Government Professor Muhammad Yunus has donated Tk 100 crore to ‘Julai Shaheed Smriti Foundation’ from his relief and social welfare fund.
He handed over the check on Tuesday (September 17) at the State Guest House Yamuna. This information has been informed in a notification sent from the press wing of the Chief Adviser.
In addition, Information and Broadcasting Adviser Nahid Islam said in a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy on Tuesday that more than 20,000 people were injured and more than 800 people were killed in the coup. Very soon they will be provided with urgent financial assistance from the foundation and arrangements will be made for the rehabilitation of their families.
Besides, arrangements will be made to treat the injured. He also said that the families of those who died will be given one-time and monthly allowance. Nahid Islam said that this program will start this week.
The press conference was also attended by Labor and Employment Adviser Asif Mahmud and Shaheed Mochad’s brother Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdh.
In order to help the people who were killed and injured in the anti-discrimination student movement, ‘Julai Shaheed Smriti Foundation’ was formed on September 12 with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus as the President.
This seven-member foundation was formed with Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdha, the twin brother of Mochadar who died in the movement, as its general secretary.
