China says the Gaza Strip is an ‘open prison’ and is no alternative to the US temporary blockade.
This information was given in a report of Al-Jazeera, a Qatar-based media outlet, on Wednesday.
China’s ambassador Fu Cong told the UN Security Council that cutting off supplies of “water, electricity, food, medicine and fuel” to Gaza has left more than two million people “living in an open-air prison,” the report said.
Fu said Gaza had been “besieged for nine months” and “the most important Rafah crossing was forced to close for two months due to Israeli military operations.”
Meanwhile, the Chinese ambassador criticized a temporary wharf built as an alternative route for humanitarian deliveries. He indirectly referred to the United States, the UN mission said ‘some country’ had built the ghat.
Note that the Gaza war started on October 7 with the attack of Hamas in southern Israel. According to Israel, 1,200 people were killed in the attack, most of them civilians.
Israel’s retaliatory counter-attacks have so far killed more than 38,000 people, most of them civilians, according to Hamas-run Gaza’s health ministry.
