Former UP Chairman arrested in Akhaura in case of extortion

The former chairman of Monionda Union Parishad of Akhaura Upazila of Brahmanbaria. Police arrested Kamal Bhuiyan in the case of extortion. He was arrested from Tonki village, the home of that union on Thursday midnight. The police sent him to jail through the court on Friday morning.

Earlier on Thursday evening, son of deceased Amir Ullah Bhuiya of Tonki village. Mujibur Rahman Shaheen became the plaintiff and filed a case against six people including Kamal Bhuiyan in Akhaura police station. However, Kamal Bhuiyan’s family claims that no such incident happened.

It is known that Mujibur Rahman (Shaheen) lived in Dhaka with his family for many years due to his job. On this occasion, Kamal Chairman and other defendants occupied the land and pond of Mujibur Rahman and his brothers. There is a dispute between them about this. Recently, Mujibur Rahman came to his house and started living. The defendants became angry with Shaheen for asking him to release the occupied land. On Thursday afternoon when Shaheen went to see the disputed land, Kamal Bhuiyan and other defendants came and attacked Shaheen and beat him up. On his screams, the people around came and rescued Shaheen. It was alleged that Kamal Bhuiyan will have to pay 50 lakh rupees to get the place back.

When contacted, Kamal Bhuiyan’s lawyer said that no such incident happened. Kamal Bhuiyan arrived in Akhaura from Chittagong on July 4 afternoon train.
