Former Railway Minister Sujan remanded for another 5 days

The court granted another 5-day remand to former railway minister Nurul Islam Sujan in the case of murder of Rafiqul Islam at Jatrabari police station in the capital.

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka gave this order on Sunday (September 22) morning.

It is known that he was taken to court after the remand of another murder case on Sunday morning. At that time, the Jatrabari police investigation officer of the murder case applied for his 10-day remand. After the hearing, the court granted his five-day remand.

Earlier, the court granted a three-day remand of the former railway minister in the case filed in Jatrabari police station of the capital on the charge of killing student Imran Hasan on September 17.

The police produced him before the court. The investigating officer of the case applied to remand him for five days for proper investigation of the case. On the other hand, his lawyer requested to cancel the remand and applied for bail. A three-day remand was granted after the hearing of both sides.

Meanwhile, police arrested Sujan from room number 833 of Shyamli Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in the capital on Monday night on September 16.

It should be noted that Nurul Islam Sujan was elected as a Member of Parliament for the first time in 2008. Then he was elected Member of Parliament in 2014 and 2018 elections. In 2019, he got the responsibility of the Ministry of Railways of the new government. He won the last election of 2024.
