Former mayor Atiq in 5 days remand

The court granted a 5-day remand to the former mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Atiqul Islam in the capital’s Uttara Purba police station murder case.

The accused was brought to court on Wednesday (November 13) morning. After that, the investigating officer of the case applied for his remand. A hearing was held asking for the remand of the accused. The accused applied for cancellation of remand and bail.

After the hearing, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Farzana Shakila Sumu Chowdhury denied her bail and gave this order.
On November 7, the court denied Atiq’s bail in three separate murder cases of Mohammadpur police station and ordered him to be sent to jail.

He was arrested and produced in the court in the case of student Rafiq Hasan’s murder. Later, an application was made to arrest him in two more murder cases of Mohammadpur police station.

On October 16, around 6:30 p.m., he was arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Tejgaon police station, former mayor of DNCC, Atiq from Mohakhali DOHS area of ​​the capital.
