Hasanul Haque Inu, former information minister and head of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSAD), a partner of the Awami League government, has been arrested from Uttara in the capital.
An officer of the Dhaka Metropolitan Intelligence Police confirmed to BBC Bangla that he was arrested in a murder case at the Newmarket police station.
Earlier, Hafizur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Uttara West Police Station, told BBC Bangla about Inu’s arrest, “I heard about the arrest from Sector 14 of Uttara.” But my police station did not arrest him. Our different organizations are working, someone else can take over. But I was not brought to the police station.
President of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal Hasanul Haque Inu was one of the leaders of the 14-party political alliance led by Awami League. He served as Information Minister.
Since the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government, various people including members of her cabinet, members of parliament have been arrested.
