Former IGP Shahidul Haque has been sent to jail after a seven-day remand in the case of the murder of businessman Abdul Wadud in the students’ movement.
After the remand, he was produced in the court on Wednesday morning and requested to be detained in jail, the investigating officer of Newmarket Police Station, Sub-Inspector Bayezid Bostami.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider ordered to send him to jail after the hearing.
Another former IGP, Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, was granted an eight-day remand in the murder case of grocer Abu Saeed in Mohammadpur on September 4.
Businessman Abdul Wadud was shot dead by the police in Neelkhet area on the afternoon of July 19 during the students’ movement. In this incident, his brother-in-law Abdur Rahman filed a murder case against 130 people including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former bridge minister Obaidul Quader.
