The court ordered to send former commerce minister Tipu Munshi to jail. On Monday morning, Tipu Munshi was produced in the court requesting to be sent to jail.
He has been sent to jail in connection with the death of Suman Shikder (31) in the capital’s Badda during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Earlier on Wednesday night, he was arrested in a raid in the capital’s Gulshan. On August 20, Masuma, the victim’s mother, filed a murder case against 179 people including Sheikh Hasina at Badda police station.
On Thursday afternoon, Tipu Munshi was produced in the court and requested to be remanded for eight days for proper investigation of the case. After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider granted his four-day remand.
Suman Sikder was shot dead in commemoration of Badda’s progress on July 17 in the anti-discrimination student movement. In this incident, Sumon’s mother Machuma filed a murder case at Badda police station.
