Average per capita income in the country increased despite the appreciation of the dollar. According to the latest Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) per capita income in the country is now 2 thousand 784 dollars. This is the provisional account for the current financial year. This per capita income has been calculated assuming a dollar price of 109 taka 97 paisa.
Besides, for the first time in terms of rupees, the average annual income per capita has exceeded three lakh rupees. At present, the average per capita income in terms of rupees is 3 lakh 6 thousand 144 rupees.
BBS published this information on Monday night. The statistics released by the institute give provisional estimates of gross domestic product (GDP), growth, investment, per capita income for the current financial year.
According to BBS, the per capita income in the last fiscal year (2022-23) was $2,749. This income increased by 35 dollars in a span of one year.
Per capita income is not the individual income of an individual. The gross national income of a country is the total income including remittances. This is calculated by dividing that national income per capita.
Meanwhile, BBS has given a provisional estimate that the growth of gross domestic product (GDP) will be 5.82 percent in the current financial year. BBS said that there has been a growth of 5.37 percent in the last financial year.
