The floodwater level has significantly receded, and electricity was partially restored in Feni on Friday night.
Several residents said that power is now available in parts of Feni City, including the DC office and surrounding areas. However, the mobile network and internet connectivity remain slow in the region.
Floodwater has fully drained from Mohipal Road, but some volunteers are experiencing foot fungus due to prolonged exposure to water.
Trucks carrying supplies and rescue equipment are now being permitted entry into Feni.
However, sufficient fresh water and dry rations have yet to reach the rural areas of the district.
Mohammad Riazul Hasan, a Feni resident said: “The water level in the municipality area is significantly lower. But I heard that other areas are still inundated.”
Riazul said the canals were overflowing in the downstream area in Sonagazi.
Abdullah Al Mamun, a volunteer in Feni said: “We have tried to reach Sonagazi on Friday. But we failed as we do not have speedboats.”
Mamun pointed out that the lack of electricity and the mobile network led to a disruption in communication which hampered the rescue process.
Mamun also said the water level in other parts went down by 5-6 inches.
Dhaka Tribune tried to reach the DC office and the local Palli Bidyut office, but all numbers are engaged.
